THERE were tears, excitement and plenty of screaming from Mildura’s Maddy Barbary when she received the news her artwork had been selected to feature in the National Gallery of Victoria’s Top Arts 2019 exhibition.
While viewing last year’s exhibition in Melbourne during school camp, the St Joseph’s College graduate dreamed of having her own work displayed.
“There are no words to describe the feeling of having been picked from more than 8000 students undertaking the required subjects as a pathway into Top Arts ... then to have been in the 130 short-listed and 46 art pieces actually selected,” she said.
