MILDURA Settlers master blaster Jason Morrison claimed his first Innes Medal in thrilling circumstances after last night’s Sunraysia Cricket Association (SCA) count at the Mildura Working Man’s Club.
The opening bat’s round 14 century against Irymple was enough for him to claim three votes and edge ahead of Workers Gol Gol import Shacaya Thomas (who polled two votes that round for his 33 in a low-scoring match against Mildura West) 14-13 as the SCA First Division’s best player.
Thomas blasted away to the early lead in the count thanks to four centuries in the first five rounds, however quietened down after that which left the door open for Morrison to keep pace.
