THe Mildura Heat’s Division 1 women’s team got off to a disappointing start to the season,  going down to Hawthorn Magic 74-53 at home on Saturday night.

Heat trailed by just two points at the end of the first period but could only manage another 17 in the next two as the Magic slammed on 37 points to open a 22-point lead.

The Heat rallied in the final period, hitting 18 points to outscore their opponents, but it was too little too late as Hawthorn ran out comfortable winners.
