A LACK of skills and knowledge is the key reason young Victorian drivers are putting themselves at risk on the road, new statistics suggest.
The statistics, from Driver Safety Australia and Supercheap Auto, revealed three in four Victorian drivers aged 25 and under were driving a car more than a decade old, and two in five of these drivers had knowingly driven an unsafe car.
Yet 34 per cent of Victorians were still not undertaking regular checks on their cars, believing it to be someone else’s responsibility or that a warning light would alert them to any safety issues.
