GROWING up in a small rural town during a drought, Madeleine Tickle always knew she wanted a career in the medical field.

Ms Tickle, born and bred in Cardross, is one of eight students gaining experience with Swan Hill District Health, but her ­career goal is to work for the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

The fourth-year medical student is part of Monash University’s Extended Rural Cohort (ERC), studying for the university’s Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine.
