ABOUT 150 Nichols Point Primary School students learnt the basics of hockey from experts as part of Hockey Victoria Roadshows last week.

In the one-day program, a representative of Hockey Victoria and three players from Wanderers Hockey Club Mildura taught Grade 5 and 6 students how to hold the sticks, pass the ball and tackle, before playing a game at the end of the session.

PE co-ordinator Travers Zanker said the program was about encouraging students to practise and join the local hockey team.
