March rise in water shortfall risk – MDBA

CONTINUING dry conditions will raise the possibility of a shortfall for water entitlement holders in the Murray River system in March, a Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) assessment has found.

The MDBA yesterday said there was a low risk of shortfall in the coming weeks, but a higher possibility in March.

“The assessment found that overall the risk of water delivery shortfall this season is low, however, should conditions turn even drier, then the risk of a shortfall later in the season increases slightly,” river management executive director Andrew Reynolds said.
