LETTER: Residents want proper review of hospital

I DON’T mind Ramsay Health Care making a profit running Mildura Hospital, if only they provided safe, effective and quality care across every speciality.

The hospital’s frequent failure to utilise the state-of-the-art telehealth equipment and expertise provided by the 24-7 on-call Stroke Neurologists of the Victorian Stroke Telehealth Program is scandalous.

Out-of-date methods and old-school boy networks are often used and they are way behind every other hospital in Victoria in this area.

I hope the Health Minister Jenny Mikakos MP and Dan Andrews our Premier consult with Ali Cupper MP for Mildura on her constituents’ concerns about the quality of care provided before they make any decisions to renew Ramsay’s contract.

Julie Davey,

Parkdale

Editor’s note: Mildura Base Hospital says it “regularly utilises the Victorian Stroke Telehealth service in the care of our patients”.
