Merbein pharmacy hits 100-year milestone

WHEN Merbein’s George Henry Kendall started the town’s first pharmacy in 1919 he didn’t know the business would last 100 years and would be owned by his granddaughter, Sally Keens, 64 years down the track.

But that’s what happened.

Despite falling out of the family’s hands for a few decades, the pharmacy, now called Keens Pharmacy, remains at its original building on Commercial Street.
