Royal commission: Aged care boss defends industry

A MILDURA aged care facility boss says failings in the sector could be largely due to a “critical” lack of Federal Government funding. 

Chaffey Aged Care chief executive Darren Midgley’s comments followed yesterday’s first hearing of evidence at the Royal Commission into Australia’s aged care system. 

Mr Midgley said while Chaffey Aged Care welcomed the Federal Government’s $662 million funding boost for the sector, more funding was needed with 43 per cent of aged care providers now making a financial loss.
