FORMER Mildura East batsman Campbell Vadlja had historians reaching for the record books after his remarkable 180 on debut for Monash Tigers in Victorian Premier Cricket’s top-grade competition on the weekend against St Kilda at the Junction Oval.

Cricket Victoria is still trying to confirm whether there has ever been a higher score made by debutant in a first XI match.

Vadlja, 20, was in sparkling form, hitting 24 boundaries and two sixes during 340 minutes at the crease, helping steer his side to a first-innings total of 7/346 declared.
