THE two independent candidates for Mallee have dismissed claims by Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack they will be incapable of delivering anything for the electorate if they win the federal seat.
Former Yarriambiack Shire mayor and Rupanyup farmer Ray Kingston and Mildura deputy mayor Jason Modica are both adamant they can make strong contributions and properly represent the Mallee if elected.
“Politics in the last 10 years has proven that independents can have a seat at the table and can have very good input, particularly if they’ve got deep support from their community,” Mr Modica said.
“The major parties are really lacking with deep consultation with their communities. The difference will come from actually going into the community and having consultation.”
