SUNRAYSIA residents will no longer be able to claim naturopathic treatments, including aromatherapy, reflexology and yoga, on private health insurance as of April.
“In most cases there was insufficient evidence to draw definite conclusions regarding the clinical effectiveness of some natural therapies covered by private health insurance,” a Department of Health spokesperson said.
The changes, which are backed by the Australian Medical Association, follow a 2017 review of the clinical efficacy, cost effectiveness, safety and quality of natural therapies.
