WOMEN who work in male-dominated industries could have a poorer sense of belonging at work and poorer mental health, according to a new Australian study.
The Journal of Applied Social Psychology study suggested that integrating women more thoroughly into male-dominated industries and giving them a better sense of belonging may help to increase their mental health and job satisfaction – a recommendation that Mildura councillor for gender equality Min Poole supports.
“Sadly this issue is being experienced globally,” Cr Poole said. “Imagine if we had equal respect for all our community members regardless of gender, culture, religion, age or disability – wouldn’t that be great?
