Algal bloom hits the Murray River at Mildura

A HIGH alert for potentially toxic blue-green algae has been issued for the Murray River from Lock 11 to the Chaffey Bridge including the Mildura Marina.

The Sunraysia Regional Algal Co-ordinating Committee issued the red alert late on Friday following extensive testing of water quality by local authorities.

Levels of blue-green algae in other sections of the river in the Mildura and Wentworth weir pools continue to fluctuate.
