Drug-drive offences rising fast

The number of drug-affected drivers detected on Victorian roads is exceeding those found above the alcohol limit.

A three-week festive season police operation across the state found 920 drug-drive offences and 892 drink-drive offences, Assistant Commissioner Stephen Leane said.

“We do know that there are more people on our roads who are using drugs,” he said, adding that amphetamines, cocaine and marijuana seemed to be the drugs of choice.
