Midwife crisis ‘wide’

A REDUCTION in postnatal unit services at Mildura Health Private Hospital is indicative of a wider problem being felt statewide, a Mildura Base Hospital spokeswoman says.

The Mildura Health Private Hospital has had to reduce its postnatal unit service for two months due to a midwife shortage. The unit, which had been operating seven days a week, will only be open from Monday mornings until Friday afternoons until March 3.

The reduction was the result of three midwives leaving the private hospital in recent months.
