Primary school students in NSW will be banned from using mobile phones during school hours.

PRIMARY school children on the NSW side of the Murray River will not be able to use mobile phones during school hours from next year.

The NSW Government yesterday announced a blanket ban on mobile phones in public primary schools from next year while high schools will have the option to opt-in to the ban.

The education department will provide guidelines about how the ban will work, but it is believed students will not be able to have access to phones during the day.
