LETTER: Sensibility needed when planning water

Why would political candidate Helen Dalton want to deny the people of Broken Hill the same privileges she enjoys as a resident of Griffith? (Letter, December 7).

The NSW Government spent $467 million securing Broken Hill’s water supply for generations, so that sensible discussions can be had about how best to maintain the Darling River, without compromising Broken Hill residents’ health and safety.

Ms Dalton has no sensible plan for water security for Broken Hill and it appears she doesn’t have a sensible plan for the Menindee Lakes re-configuration either.

If that project doesn’t go ahead, water will be bought back from – you guessed it – Griffith, Leeton, Deniliquin and Wentworth irrigators farmers.

NSW Water Minister
