A MILDURA man wants Victorian cemetery trusts to slash their “insane” extra charge for weekend burials after he was slapped with a bill of more than $2500 for his Mum’s funeral at the Murray Pines Cemetery.

Trevor Krake said he was charged an extra weekend fee of $1250 on top of the normal burial or “interment” cost of $1320 for his Mum’s funeral held on Saturday, June 9.

Mr Krake only became aware of the weekend charge just days before the funeral when it was too late to change plans.
