ENVIRONMENT councillor Anthony Cirillo has warned Mildura’s iconic lush Deakin Avenue centreway gardens could turn to dust if town water restrictions come in force.

Cr Cirillo has called on Lower Murray Water (LMW) to work with the council by allowing it to tap into the rural water supply to sprinkle the public gardens during restrictions, a plan he said would also save ratepayers’ money.

The council currently uses an allocation of town water on the area, which it would be forced to cut if water restrictions are imposed.
