THOSE who plan to spend summer weekends swimming at Apex Beach will now be better protected following changes to life-saving patrol times in cases of extreme heat.

The Mildura Life Saving Club applied to Life Saving Victoria to approve the change to better cater to the most popular swimming times of rivergoers.

President of the local club Louise Tarrant said in the past patrols put the flags out from 1-5pm.
