INCOMING Member for Mildura Ali Cupper plans to start her parliamentary career by handing Premier Daniel Andrews her wish list for the region, which includes a new, publicly managed hospital.

Ms Cupper claimed victory in Mildura yesterday after finishing 254 votes clear of Nationals MP Peter Crisp when preferences were distributed.

The result, to be officially declared by the Victorian Electoral Commission today, would make Ms Cupper the first woman to represent Mildura in State Parliament.

“I expect a call from the Premier to invite me to a meeting to talk about Mildura’s priorities,” Ms Cupper said yesterday.

“I will be giving him a list and my plan is to work through that list for the next four years and the first thing I want to focus on is health care because that is a matter of life and death.”
