NEW export opportunities for the region’s agriculture and horticulture industries are prompting growers to sell to new buyers.
ANZ regional executive for north-west Victoria Jason Marr said his bank had added four new staff in six months to work with local farmers.
He said the bank needed to boost its resources to help Sunraysia growers capitalise on increasing demand from overseas markets.
“In the past three years, there has been new markets opening up into China and broader Asia,” he said.
“(Local) producers have seen their profit margin increase and the industry has changed a lot over the past 10 years, the region is dynamic and innovative.
“To fund growth, farmers need bank debt and they need their own equity as well.”
