A THICK dust storm that hit Mildura at the weekend won’t be the last of the season, a meteorologist has warned.

A hot and dry day through the north-west of Victoria, combined with fresh northerly winds, resulted in a dust storm forming about 6pm on Saturday.

Wind gusts up to 70km/h developed in Mildura and a severe thunderstorm warning was issued as the Bureau of Meteorology expected potentially damaging winds with showers and thunderstorms to move through the region.
