DESPITE a 54-run opening stand between Jason Morrison and Cameron Kiel, Settlers were well held by reigning premiers Irymple on day one of the first SCA First Division grand final rematch of the season at Henshilwood Oval.
Morrison had done the bulk of the scoring with 46 runs to Kiel’s eight, including consecutive sixes off Irymple’s Mark Thomson’s first two balls in the second over, but when the pair fell within three balls – Kiel to Thomson and Morrison to Dean Fairlie – Settlers started to wobble.
Once the score hit 54 in the 13th over Setts lost 10/132 to be all out, well short of what it looked like they would get to.
