GAVIN Sedgmen has won a countback to fill the vacant ninth spot on Mildura Council.
The countback took place in council chambers this morning, where votes for the late Max Thorburn were distributed to the remaining unsuccessful candidates from the 2016 council election, according to voters' preferences.

Mr Sedgmen will be given 48 hours to complete a declaration of eligibility to become a councillor.
If he does not complete the declaration by the deadline, a further countback will be scheduled.
