Water still hot topic

IRRIGATION, bio-security and labour hire were some of the hot topics addressed at Dried Fruit Australia’s (DFA) annual growers forum this week.

DFA chairman Mark King said growers were concerned about water prices – a topic touched by National Farmers’ Federation (NFF) chief executive officer Tony Mahar, who spoke in front of about local 50 growers and industry representatives at the Mildura Working Man’s Club.

“With the drought, prices of water have gone up and where that puts the bottom line is considerable,” Mr King said.
