Paul Cohrs charged following Red Cliffs homicide

PAUL Cohrs has been charged with murder following the death of his mother Bette Cohrs Schulz in Red Cliffs on Tuesday last week.

Homicide squad detectives today charged the former Wentworth Shire deputy mayor who is now in a stable condition in a Melbourne hospital under police guard.

He was admitted to hospital last Tuesday with what police described as self-inflicted injuries.

Ms Cohrs Schulz was found dead with a gunshot wound at her Snowy Avenue property about 12.30pm on October 30, while at the time babysitting a four-year-old boy.

Her son, Paul Cohrs, is accused of shooting the 81-year-old.

About an hour before the shooting, the man’s brother, Raymond Cohrs, 63, was shot and killed at a Rufus River property near Wentworth where a real estate agent was being held against his will.
