BATTLING to overcome illness, Mildura mountain bike rider Tyler Beruldsen finish fifth in the under 23 division of last weekend’s Olympic Cross Country South Australian State Championships.

Beruldsen, 20, was struck down by a virus in the lead-up to Sunday’s event at Fox Creek, forcing him off the bike for almost a week as he struggled to recover in time for the prestigious event.

The talented local had been one of the pre-race favourites, but with his energy levels down he struggled to keep pace.
