Murray-Darling Basin Plan: Victorian growers could lose out

RED Cliffs irrigator Bill McClumpha says Sunraysia growers would lose if money for on-farm upgrades under the basin plan isn’t made available in Victoria.

Basin water ministers agreed in June that on-farm projects would be limited to South Australia, Queensland and the ACT until further notice.

The socio-economic criteria for that water recovery are now being decided by the Federal Government, with the Victorian Farmers Federation warning of risks to communities reliant on irrigation.
