LETTER: Rural settlement just a ‘quick fix’

It makes no (common) sense whatsoever dumping immigrants in regional or rural Victoria.

For the very simple reasons that there are very few sustainable, permanent, employment opportunities there for unskilled or semi skilled workers.

Particularly those with no or limited English speaking skills.

Their best hope, job wise, might be occasional seasonal work.

Yet another example of a poorly thought out social and economic policy – one driven by cheap political opportunism and a desire for a quick fix solution to overcrowding in our major two capital cities, Melbourne and Sydney.
