Accused killer faces court

A MAN charged with the murder of a woman who was shot in the abdomen before being left at the front of Mildura Base Hospital has made a brief appearance in a Melbourne court.

Steven Con Samaras was arrested at Preston in Melbourne’s northern suburbs the day after his former partner American woman Tamara Turner was found by staff collapsed on a bench outside the hospital without a pulse in June 2016.

Mr Samaras has pleaded not guilty to one count of murder after he was earlier this year committed to stand trial on the charge.

The accused man appeared in the Supreme Court sitting in Melbourne yesterday when the matter was adjourned for further mention again in Melbourne on November 9.

The pair met on Facebook in October 2015 and Ms Turner travelled to Australia about two months later.

They had camped in the remote Hattah area in the lead up to Ms Turner’s death and were also seen at shops in Mildura in the days beforehand.

A date for his trial has yet to be set.
