MILDURA’S Noel Pugsley knows just how stressful interstate cancer treatment can be, having spent six weeks earlier this year in Adelaide receiving radiation therapy.
As part-time carer for his wife Iris, Mr Pugsley said the upheaval from routine affected her and existing minor symptoms developed into dementia, resulting in hospital time and a move into aged care.
“There was just no one else here in Mildura for her to stay with while I was gone so she came with me,” he said.
“If we’d been able to remain here for my treatment, it wouldn’t have happened.”
