MILDURA Pride says Federal Mallee MP Andrew Broad has delivered a “slap in the face” to LGBTIQ teachers and students following his comments that religious schools should be allowed to discriminate against teachers because of sexuality or gender.

It comes as federal parliament announced it would remove the power of faith-based schools to discriminate against children on the basis of their sexuality.

Labor wants the same laws to be extended to teachers and staff, and has the support of Liberal Party candidate for Wentworth Dave Sharma.
