A DROUGHT-stricken Wentworth Shire town could receive a much-needed tourism boost under a new plan to entice travellers.
The shire council will decide whether to endorse the Pooncarie and District Development Association’s (PADDA) bid for Pooncarie to become an RV Friendly Town (RVFT) during tomorrow’s meeting.
From a farmers’ point of view, they don’t have time to go to the pub, the travellers that are slowly thinning out is due to the slowly drying river north of here.
The program is an initiative of the Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia, which advertises towns that meet a certain criteria and welcome RV or caravan tourists.
