IT is increasingly likely Sunraysia could experience significantly warmer than average temperatures through spring and summer with the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) issuing an El Nino alert, signifying the weather event now has a 70 per cent chance of occurring.
Not since 2015-2016 has Sunraysia – and the rest of the country – experienced an El Nino, which was then recorded as one of the three strongest on record.
On Tuesday, the BoM said there was now triple the chance of the weather pattern occurring, which given this year’s minimal rainfall, would signal bad news for our farmers.
