MILDURA Country Music Festival co-ordinator John Arnold plans to hang up his cowboy hat after the 2019 event, saying the workload involved is too great and the festival committee is constantly “battling”.

Mr Arnold said initial attendance survey results showed this year’s festival was a hit with out-of-town fans but it ran at a “substantial loss” although final crowd numbers haven’t been collated.

“We’re putting on an event which brings people to Mildura and that’s what’s important,” Mr Arnold said.
