VICTORIA’S Water Minister says it would be worth the Federal Government’s while to help the Centre for Freshwater Ecosystems’ Mildura laboratory stay open.

During a visit to Mildura last week, Lisa Neville said: “In the context of the Murray-Darling Basin and the issues and the challenges we’ve got going forward and some of the big decisions we all need to make, I think there would be value in the Commonwealth investing in this.

“And that goes to issues that we have argued consistently: that environmental watering needs to be focused on environmental outcomes. It’s not just about quantity, and you really need the research to back that up.”
