VOTING at election time is complicated enough for most people but for locals living with an intellectual disability it can be a process that feels out of reach and often excludes people from participating.

Sophia Tipping is a PhD candidate from La Trobe University Bundoora’s Living with Disability Research Centre who is investigating voting participation, as we head towards the state election.

She visited Mildura last week to run focus groups at the Christie Centre to get more information about experiences and attitudes towards voting from Sunraysia locals with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities.
