Mildura candidate Steve Timmis snubs fat cat wage

INDEPENDENT candidate for Mildura Steve Timmis has promised to accept the average Mildura wage and donate the rest of his earnings to charity if elected in November. 

Mr Timmis, a prominent local businessman, said salaries of Victorian politicians rise in line with official measures of wage inflation in the state. 

Last year this meant a pay rise of 5.3 per cent, this year it is 1.6 per cent.
