Call to hear youth by lowering Australia's voting age

SHOULD 16 and 17 year olds  be given the right to vote in Australian Federal elections?

That’s the debate before parliament following the introduction by Australian Greens Senator Jordon Steele-John of the Lowering Voting Age and Increasing Voter Participation Bill in June.

A recent Austrian study found 16 year olds, often characterised as politically “lazy, self-interested and apathetic” were more likely to want to vote than their 18-year-old counterparts.
