PIPELINES are an “unpalatable” solution for people of far-west NSW, but if a major overhaul of the Menindee Lakes goes ahead, there will be little alternative.
That’s the view of lower Darling horticulturist Alan Whyte, who says the community must face up to the “particularly ugly” options the community is facing.
Wentworth Shire Council this week told the NSW Government its community rejected the notion of any more pipelines being built in the area and called for at least 800 gigalitres of water to be held at the Menindee Lakes.
