THE opening of a $1.8 million residential drug and alcohol facility in Bendigo earlier this week has left Mildura advocates “pleased, but disheartened”, with the lack of residential beds in Sunraysia.
A report released earlier this year revealed despite being half its size, the per population need of alcohol and drug treatment in Mildura is twice that of Bendigo.
Mildura also recorded a rate 1.3 times higher for illicit drug use than Bendigo.
