Snake encounters are rarely charming

THE warmth of spring stirs forth all manner of life, not least those scale-clad reptiles that have spent the winter months in slumber. 

Awakened now, numerous species of snakes set about the quest of catching a feed and finding a mate. 

Coming off the back of two good breeding seasons with ample food – as in mice – snake numbers will be on the rise and with this in mind it pays to be aware around the garden and bush.
