THE Sunraysia community is today being urged to stand united in recognition of World Suicide Prevention Day.
Murray Primary Health Network suicide prevention trial co-ordinator Merryl Whyte said the time had come for the community to engage in conversation about the issue, as statistics show more than half of the people who died by suicide had not told anyone they had been in distress.
“The main message for World Suicide Prevention Day is around working together and that you can talk about suicide,” she said.
For support and information about suicide prevention, contact Lifeline 13 11 14 or Suicide Call Back Service 1300 659 467.
