OUYEN United have made a third straight SFNL grand final after a 40-point win over Red Cliffs in the second semi final at Robinvale’s John James Oval on Saturday.
In a bruising encounter the Kangas ran away late to record a 15.10 (100) to 8.12 (60) win over the Tigers.
The Kangas burst out of the blocks with the first two goals of the game before Red Cliffs steadied and responded, with the physicality of both sides well noted.
Trailing by 11 points at quarter time the Tigers hit the lead in the second with use of the breeze but the Kangas hit back to lead by seven points at the main break.
The minor premiers then got away in the second half, leading by 18 points at three quarter time and then pulling away late, holding Red Cliffs goalless in the last quarter.
Red Cliffs play reigning premiers Irymple in the preliminary final.
Earlier South Mildura booked a reserves grand final spot with a come from behind win over Irymple and Robinvale-Euston won comfortably over the Swallows to qualify for the under 18s grand final.
On the netball court in A grade South Mildura won 51-40 over Ouyen United to make the grand final again looking to atone for last year’s loss to Irymple.
The Kangas play Merbein in the preliminary final.
