COL Wakefield says he is looking forward to the Pooncarie Cup being a little more relaxing from now on.
The former president has relinquished the reins after 35 years in charge of the Pooncarie Racing Club, and for the first time since the end of 1958, when he started working at the club with his father, he’s going to be simply a racegoer – a break from his usual routine when cup time comes around.
“It’ll be a bit more relaxing, I think, now,” Wakefield said.
