LA TROBE University Mildura has welcomed federal Labor’s election promise to increase university study in regional Australia and other areas of the community with low attainment rates.
Labor’s education spokeswoman Tanya Plibersek yesterday announced a $174 million commitment of money to go towards mentoring, support and programs to boost study in communities where enrolments were low.
The cash would also be used so universities could collaborate with TAFEs, not-for-profits and community organisations.
