COBURG are the 2018 Big V Division 2 Men champions after a 72-65 win over the Mildura Heat in game two of the grand final series at Coburg Basketball Stadium tonight.

Needing to win to take the series into a decider, the Heat led by as much as 17 but a very strong Giants outfit capitalised on Heat big men Steven Bowden and Alex Newstead fouling out to run over the top of the gallant visitors.

"I'm really proud of the team, we weren't supposed to be here," Heat coach David Curran said post-game.

"Coming from sixth to get into the grand final ... I'm still proud of the guys."

Calvin Henry cemented himself as perhaps the Heat's greatest ever player with another stellar performance that was better than his stat line of 20 points and 14 rebounds showed, while Jay Madigan scored 19 before being helped from the court late injured.
